Pokemon Information

On Hand:

Oto-Hime

When the egg Astral and Yuuma were carrying hatched, Yuuma was temporarily body-swapped with Grimsley. After he returned, he found out that Astral had taken the baby pokemon under his care until then, and had since named it 'Oto'.

In Party:

Kuribolt

Starter- Met @ Entralink

Zorua
 | Lvl 97 | Illusion | Naughty; Highly Curious

Night Daze

Punishment

Scary Face

Foul Play

Note: She may well seem to act on her own, but she could very well just be choosing to listen to Astral... Now that Astral is visible, she has no excuse to ignore Yuuma for another order- Astral's orders would now be considered cheating.

Kuribolt is named after this card. The card's effect in the anime (and therefore Yuma's world) involves transforming the materials of an opponent's Xyz monster into tokens identical in appearance to itself; a sort of reverse of mirroring the opponent's form.

For some reason, Kuribolt refuses to evolve.

Achacha

Met @ Route 2

Evolved @ lvl 18 (in Astral's 'possession')
Evolved @ lvl 37 (during Nacrene Gym Challenge)

Pidgeotto
 | Lvl 97 | Tangled Feet | Serious; Proud of its power

Fly

Feather Dance

Hurricane

Air Slash

Note: Achacha is far more obedient than Kuribolt, though he tends to give 'looks' when he feels his trainer is about to do something he considers ridiculous.

Achacha is named for another card in Yuuma's old deck, namely this card. A similar card, called 'Chacchaka Archer' resembles an upgraded version, and has a ponytail/helm decoration that resembles the head feathers of a pidgeot.

Following the Jet Badge gain, he taught Achacha 'Fly'.

Muzumuzu

Starter- Met @ Entralink
Evolved @ Lvl 41 (In Astral's Possession, Desert Resort Thread)
Evolved @ Lvl 60 (Dark Stone Purchase)

Lampent
   | Lvl 97 | Flash Fire | Quirky; Mischievous

Heat Wave (Egg Move)

Confuse Ray

Hex

Will-o-Wisp

Note: Quirky doesn't really cover it- the little ghost might be loyal to Yuuma, but he's just plain WEIRD... Then again, given what most litwick do by nature...

This litwick is named after one of Yuuma's 'devil' cards, namely 'String Devil Muzumuzu Rhythm'. ...Mostly because while it's devilish, Yuuma isn't about to go naming the little guy something he considers genuinely frightening (IE, 'Black Mist'.).

As evolution stones apparently circulate the stores regularly in Driftveil, Astral has been keeping an eye on the store front for a Dusk Stone while Yuuma recovers from his cold.

Evolved at last! ...And strangely creepy.

Gagaga Girl

Met @ Dreamyard
Evolved @ Cold Storage (Moonstone Purchase)

Musharna
     | Lvl 97 | Synchronize | Modest; Good Perseverance

Stored Power

Hypnosis

Calm Mind

Dream Eater

Note: Due to the typical romanization 'issues', the translation effect of the world doesn't seem to affect this name; so it sounds like the shortened version of the name is 'Galu' or 'Garu' depending on how people hear things, as 'Gagaga Girl' is a bit of a mouthful.

Galu is the quietest of the pokemon, even compared to Achacha- however, she doesn't tend to fight too far away from Yuuma, and seems to hold some sort of connection to him; all Yuuma knows is that they almost literally crashed into each other when Astral revealed his presence to the pokemon, and that a day later a swarm of munna effectively stormed Striaton...

Galu is based on the card 'Gagaga Girl', another of Yuuma's more prominent cards. Strangely enough, it's not likely he'll ever have a pokemon named Gagaga Magician, though really, he's not trying to find things for names; he's just naming them the names of his 'friends'.

When it was discovered one could purchase certain evolution stones in Driftveil, Yuuma got a Moonstone for Galu, so she could finally evolve. Her current moveset is more or less 'maxed out' as it is, so it's a well deserved power boost.

Ganbara

Met @ Relic Castle Lvl 30 (Caught by Astral)
Evolved @ Lvl 37 (Sparring in Nimbasa)

Carracosta (Shiny)
        | Lvl 97 | Solid Rock | Bold; Hates to Lose

Shell Smash

Surf

Brine

Rock Slide

Note: So named by Astral to follow the pattern of card-based names, this now Carracosta seems to see Astral and Yuuma as his parents; though more quick to listen to Astral's command, his headstrong nature typically has him feeling no troubles with Yuuma's, so he's actually quite obedient.

He was found following Astral in the Relic Castle, having mistaken him for another of his shiny complexion due to the pale 'teal' of Astral's skin contrasting the darkened fabrics of his cloak while inside. Ironically, his evolved form is darker.

Despite the term 'shiny', he of course, does not actually sparkle or anything.

Recently, Astral finally took the HM that Yuuma won from Clay and taught it to him.

Zubaba

Met @ Cold Storage (Swarm)
Evolved Lvl 38 @ Cold Storage (Astral's possession)
Evolved @ Lvl 48

Haxorus
     | Lvl 97 | Rivalry | Gentle; Strong Willed

Guilotine

Outrage

Dragon Claw

Dragon Dance

Note: This little Axew got stuck in the Cold Storage during the swarm's path through Driftveil; while Yuuma was training his pokemon there, he found and caught her for the team. Though the leveling for the others has slowed down considerably, Zubaba's training is still going steady..!

At least with Astral keeping on it during Yuuma's down time... The others didn't do much of course, but she at least was able to catch up! (And evolve! ...And evolve again right in time for Clay's Gym!)

She's a rather peaceful sort; she would much rather dance than battle, but she does enjoy a quick tussle now and then!

Zubaba was named for the card 'Zubaba Knight', a swordsman with two blades.

Due to recent events, Astral has gained physical form! The plan is to eventually apply him as a full character, but I don't intend to do this until a rather fair distance down the road. (Like say... After Yuuma's final badge.)

At any rate, now that he's solid, he's under the same limitations as actual characters in regard to other-worldly things; that is, his 'powers' are reduced to 20% capabilities.

Now, this obviously doesn't apply to things like his memory and observation skills; that's merely a trait of his! He just happens to be that observant!

However, being a former spirit, he's quite sensitive to harsh elements (hence the constant poncho). More importantly, he's rather frail physically, and thus cannot carry as much as Yuuma, or Subaru can. He can't out-run either of them; so while he's fine walking long distance, a sprint will leave him relatively out of breath for a bit of time.

In regard to what he USED to be capable of... Most of that is gone. Becoming solid and visible means he obviously CAN'T be invisible and CAN'T be non-corporeal. No flying through walls for him! His flight however, remains as a slight hovering ability; he can go about a foot off the ground, even above water, but doing that is just as fast as walking is normally, and he's not about to do that above water all the time because he'd be leaving everyone behind. At any rate, he doesn't float very often; it's just as taxing as walking anyways, so he figures he should get used to using his legs. At least then it'll improve his ability to even exist as a solid being.

Astral now eats, drinks, sleeps... The energy from Volcarona's horn/scale seems to have given him all he needed to retain a physical, functioning form! He has yet to dream just yet during these sleeps; it seems that for the most part they're extremely deep, so as to settle the energy used to cause this in the first place. But he should start in a few days...

And when he does, he's going to be in for a rather rude surprise...
Week Eleven, Day 5

Yuuma and I have now been here for almost three months. He does not show his worry toward the situation, but I have noticed it nonetheless. He is visibly concerned about what will happen to our world during our absence, regardless of the belief that no time passes.

However, it feels as though, more than anything, he is concerned about what will happen to myself. More than once, I have spotted him looking over the numbers cards with a somewhat distant expression, and while I am sure I have not seen anything like it, I feel as though this has happened once before, that stare. Yuuma acts incredibly cheerful for others, when he believes they are watching.

When he believes he is alone however, he is, in reality, quite depressed.

---------------

Week Twelve, Day 2

With the news of gathering badges, Yuuma seemed to cheer up somewhat. However, I feel as though with the time it took to gather these two, he is still somewhat despairing in regard to the situation. While entering the Pinwheel Forest for example, he asked how I was faring in light of all that happened. He has asked this before of course- however, it feels as though he is possibly more concerned as to our fate now even more so than before.

We will be approaching the end of the forest soon enough, I feel. At that time, it will apparently take approximately one full day before we enter the next city.

For now, I will keep a closer eye on Yuuma. His actions are beginning to cause considerable worry, and I fear that the worst may happen if he is not confronted on this soon.
4th Walling: Hey, go for it- it'll make for a good change in who looks crazy really.
Battling/Trading: Battling is good- Yuuma loves a friendly battle, and he'll fight when he feels he needs to as well- it's like dueling at home! He'll be extremely hesitant to trade however, as he sees the pokemon as his friends; he wouldn't give up his human friends, he wouldn't give up his cards- he won't give up his pokemon either.
Plotting: YES. PLOTTING. I LIKE THE SOUND OF THAT. My aim is 'usagisquared', but PMs should work just as well for anything small.
Flirting: So long as you realize it'll fly over him completely and keep it within age appropriate range- the kid's thirteen..!
Hugging: He might feel a bit awkward (especially if he doesn't know you..!) but... Well hey, he won't push you away or anything, and at the worst just sputter and look away awkwardly.
Kissing: OH BOY. If this happens, expect sputtering and protests and lots of 'WHAT WAS THAT' shenanigans.
Injuring/Killing/Fighting: Mmmmmm... I'd like you to ask first. Like... If Yuuma is tossed into a situation that calls for injury or battle, it's likely a given that I'm prepared for that to happen to him, but aside from the severity of injury/the accuracy of the fight, send a message before you try and kill him, kay?
Mind reading: Yup!
Manipulating: Yuuma can be naive as heck if you play it right, so have at it!
Backtagging: Fine by me~
Anything else: Send a message! Ask questions! I love questions..!
(...It would seem that Astral has convinced Kuribolt to type journals in his stead; it's very effective.)

Week Four, Day 6

As Yuuma does not enjoy keeping a log, I have asked him permission to keep one in his place. He initially claimed that 'it wasn't like he needed someone to do these things', but I feel that he was able to tell that it is also for myself. This world is very strange after all- within our first week of arrival, the cold air that Yuuma and I had entered into vanished, replaced with a light breeze. This is apparently a 'seasonal change', though Yuuma has stated that 'normal places do not do that!'.

I have a feeling that other 'seasons' will change similarly, though I will see for myself in the end.

While we have traveled in this place, we have seen many strange things- the pokemon in particular are interesting creatures to observe I find, particularly with this element of 'evolution'. According to the second device that Yuuma has with him, 'Achacha' has the potential to 'evolve' once more, so I will have another opportunity to observe this phenomenon.

As another note, it would seem that we will be meeting with 'Shinta' soon; Yuuma spoke with him through the 'X-Transceiver' earlier, and now that we have found the pokemon 'Munna' it would seem that the plan is to meet with him in Striaton. I am somewhat concerned as to the 'munna's condition however; she was shaking when I found her, and while she has since calmed thanks to Yuuma's support, I cannot fathom the reason why she was in such a state to begin with...
What, what-

(Probably have to zoom in on this...)

In-Character Information
Name:
Tsukumo Yuuma
Series: Yu-Gi-Oh! ZeXal
Canon-Point: Mid-WDC Arc (Up to Episode 36 in other words. MIGHT stretch to 'end of the arc' if it doesn't affect personality too much.)
History: yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Yuma and yugioh.wikia.com/wiki/Astral

...As Yuma keeps the Emperor's Key..! (Which means that I should put some reference for Astral... Even though Yuuma, and possibly ghosts or psychics are the only ones who can actually see or hear him.)

Personality: Easily described as energetic and optimistic, Yuuma is a boy who doesn't know how to give up. His catch phrase can loosely be translated to rising above- and he lives by that phrase to the end! To surpass all that's before him, with all he has, he will fight..!

But Yuuma is hasty, and stubborn. He rushes into things too quickly without thinking, and it often gets him into troubles. While his beliefs are strong, and just, even, his ridiculous lengths to support them gets him into a deeper hole than he started before he can recover.

His cheery attitude comes with a somewhat hypocritical side though; he'll often say one thing, and do another, and worse, go back on his word. He'll regret it after of course; but only when he realizes what he was doing in the first place, as with his broken promise to duel Shark without using numbers. And on that note, his stubborn attitude can cause enormous issues as well; he'll stand by his beliefs even when he's wrong, and it can take dire situations before he can reconcile the arguing party... Regardless of any guilt he has over the situation. And there is often considerable guilt- Yuuma is an honest person, and when he realizes that he's gone back on his word he often hates himself for it.

Yuuma is easily angered, and just as easily cheered. He's extremely close to his friends, and his personality makes him extremely approachable. When he's upset however, and when he can't protect those close to him, he can't focus properly. At his worst, he loses the will to even do anything but simply go through the motions of the day, an extremely jarring change.

His anger is more often than not mere annoyance though, clashing with Astral's calmness rather often due to a short temper. Though he works together much easier with him now, considering him a friend, this still happens.

As determined as he is to be 'the best' though, he doesn't seem to put much effort in it outside of battle; perhaps with his over-zealous personality affecting his pokemon though, they'll work on it more rather than waiting until the battle itself. As it is, his sun-like personality is certainly one that is hard to hate, particularly with Yuuma being such a forgiving person. (...Most of the time, at least.)

Powers: Aside from the jarring ability to NEVER GIVE UP EVER?

No.

He will seem to be talking to thin air quite a bit though, and for some reason is fairly adept at flips and jumps and running, despite failing (or formerly failing) at everything else.

Starter Pokemon: Zorua (Lvl 5 - Female)

Writing Samples
First-Person Sample:
U-seeeeeeeehhhh... You mean... You mean none of you can see him still? No one, no one? No oneeeeeee??? Haahhhhhh... I was in the middle of the World Duel Carnival... And now- Now you're telling me no one here duels at all..!? .. .... Oiii!!! [...He's pointing at empty space.] What do you mean 'interesting'!? There's nothing interesting about this! We need to go home! ... ...Oh. True, if we're here, they can't get all the numbers but... ...I'm not talking to myself! He's right there! Right there..!!!

Third-Person Sample: Admittedly, he didn't react too well when he first got here.

..Actually that was a huge understatement, and it was quite likely that they only gave him all these sandwiches to shut him up. Regardless, he couldn't duel here. He didn't even have his cards here; there were no numbers... No battles for Astral to take part in.

Hoever, Astral was still here. Watching him walk and eat this food right now. Well.

That or staring at the fox-guy he had with him. "Another observation," the spirit decided at that moment, watching as Zorua hopped along. "Though it is said 'Zorua' hides its true form for protection, this one has yet to transform. It would appear that 'Zorua' feels safe while with Yuma."

"Psshheeeeeee... So many observations in one day..." He had to laugh, shaking his head. "Of course Zorua is safe..! Zorua's not some weakling; she can fight anything..!"

"Zo!"

The pokemon barked, looking up toward the spirit and nodding. "..Hn. So it seems." He paused, looking back to Yuma. "...However, it also seems to see me."

"Hehhhh?" At that, the boy instantly crouched to look at the tricky fox, the pokemon currently wagging its tail. "No way... You can really see him..?" The cheer was evident; the idea that he wasn't the only one who could in this world was more than just a 'relief'.

As though to answer, Zorua nodded. "Erf!" And, just as quickly, hopped back in a spiraling blur before coming to rest on the ground in an illusionary form. "Ehehehehe~"

Both spirit and human stared, both absolutely gobsmacked at the sight; a duplicate of Astral, but rather than the usual deadpan expression it was a horribly uncharacteristic grin that was on its face, and as opposed to glowing, or floating, this one was very much solid. "AAAAAhhh!! Y-You really can..!"

"Ehehehehe..! Erf!" The not-Astral continued to grin, blowing a raspberry toward where the real one was floating.

"Eh- I don't understand, what is she-"

Another spiral of violet, and this time a 'not-Yuma' was there.

"Oh... And now 'me'..?"

"Ehehehehe..." Not-Yuma again grinned, before taking one of the sandwiches in her trainer's hands. "heheeheheh~"

"AAHHH!! Those are mine!" He stumbled, reaching to try and snatch it back before the shapeshifter dodged. "Give them back..!"

'Not-Yuma' merely skipped off laughing all the way.

How's my driving?

Got questions? Put them here. Got tips/complaints/comments on how I play Yuuma, or Astral for that matter? Put those here too! It's a new series, and I might not have pegged him as well as I thought you know.
